Congratulations to our 3rd and 4th grade teachers and students for your outstanding performance on the Math portion of the state assessments.  Preliminary results have revealed that 94% of our students are proficient or higher in math.  This is the highest score our building has received since the state assessments began.  The 3rd and 4th grade teachers and students hit another home run on the Reading assessments scoring a 92%. This is a tribute to our entire staff at Irving.  Thank you for all of your hard work.

The Irving Elementary School Spelling Bee was held Jan. 6. Liberty McKnight came in first, Zachary Phillips, second, Sophia McCann third, Robert Barnes, fourth, Brendun Dunlap, fifth, and Alexandria Solomon, sixth.

We want to thank everyone who attended the Kickoff Party!! It was a great success.  We also want to thank PIZZA HUT for providing the pizza for the event!  Remember to sign up on the calendar in the lobby for a Watch D.O.G.S. day!

Today we received a check from Box Tops for $1148.55!!  This is the most we have ever received in a year.  Great job to all of you who send box tops to our school.  The money we just received is going to purchase a SmartBoard for a classroom.  (They cost $1,000 each.)  We will be sending in more box tops in a couple of months.  Let's all work together to raise another $1,000 as we have one more classroom that needs a SmartBoard.  Contact your family, co-workers, businesses you go to (such as doctors and dentists), and friends and encourage them to save box tops for Irving Elementary.  We can reach this goal with all of you helping us!!!

Welcome to Irving Elementary School.  We believe that research based strategies and our outstanding instructors have helped our students meet their academic goals.  Irving uses the Success for All reading program and Everyday Math as part of our curriculum.

Irving Elementary was recognized as earning the Standard of Excellence award 7 times in the last 3 years in the content area of the Kansas State Assessments.

Irving recently purchased a new software package entitled Study Island.  This program is a test preparation program which is being used in our after school program and in the classroom during our standards practice time.  The program is designed to help students master the Kansas standards in Math and Reading.  Topics consist of questions, answers, explanations, and lessons that address specific skills.  Each student has an online username and password, so they can work on it at home.
